Breaking Barriers – How You Can Empower Others with AI

Hi, Inbal here! I often have such fascinating conversations that I wish you could all join me to hear them.

Last week, during a one-on-one AI coaching session with a general manager in design and construction, we mapped how AI could enhance her team's work—we looked at her design teams, leadership roles, and even her personal projects.

At one point, she said: “It’s probably not relevant for the tradespeople. They’re hands-on, on the ground, practical. They’re not gonna drop tools and use AI.”

But is that really true?

The Reality of Generative AI

Generative AI is changing everything we know about interacting with software and technology.

Its foundation in natural language means we can just talk to it. With vision capabilities for images and video we can show it what we are talking about. We can now integrate AI into workflows that don’t rely on screens or keyboards.

Here’s an example from my own life:

I needed to fix a screen door at home—something I’d never done before.

  • I showed ChatGPT an image of the broken part. And it told me what materials and tools to buy (even giving me specific product names available at my local Bunnings).

  • We had a voice conversation where it explained the process

  • When I got stuck, I turned on video, so it could see what I was doing and help me troubleshoot and finish the job.

For me, this level of access to knowledge, expertise, and live support is a real superpower.

Superpowers for Everyone

These superpowers don’t require advanced technical skills—they’re accessible to anyone:

Tradespeople on the tools: Imagine plumbers using video to help diagnose a problem.

Non-native English Speakers: My elderly parents use AI in voice mode for their personal projects, beautifully mixing languages all the way.

Generative AI is one of the most powerful technologies we've ever seen, yet one of the easiest ones to get started with!

Rethinking the Barriers

We must rethink who can use AI and where it fits. The barriers are no longer technical skills—they’re awareness and confidence. They are also not about being in the office with access to a screen or a keyboard.

AI can move beyond offices and text-based workflows, into hands-on, practical environments.

Pause and Reflect

So, who can you bring into the room, who is still outside?

Who can you empower with the gift of freedom and knowledge?\

Let's make sure no one is left behind!
